RIP Velcro Kitty

This past Thursday we had to put my old friend Velcro to sleep.  We've had her for almost as long as Phil and I have been together.   We actually found her as a kitten in the wall of our garage.  Her mother was a feral cat, and had a litter of kittens in our Garage ceiling.  And one day we heard crying in the wall.  So I made Phil break open the wall to get her out.  She was about 4-5 weeks old at that point.  She didn't learn how to retract her claws cause she was so young when we found her.  Hence her name, Velcro.

She has always had such a fun personality, and we both became very attached to her.

We finally moved her up a couple of weeks ago, and she really seemed to enjoy the new house.  She could sleep in the sun again, and could see the other cats and birds outside.  Although she didn't like any other animals near her, even her brother after awhile.

But she was having some health issues, and after taking her to the vet we found she was going through kidney failure, had a heart murmur, and she had some blockages.  Because of her age, they felt she wouldn't survive surgery.  So we made the decision to let her go.  One of the saddest days I've been through.  She's been such a great friend.  And she'll be missed greatly.

RIP Velcro kitty.
