Reusable Coffee Cup Sleeve

I saw this on a sewing website, and I just had to make one. It's a reusable coffee cup sleeve. Since we're all trying to be green, and not consume a lot of paper products, this is a great idea for people who go to coffee shops and get coffee.

The material is this really fun cat material I've had forever.
Ok, so I don't go to Starbucks much. So I thought I'd try it on one of our drinking glasses, it's a pub-sized beer glass. And it fit! I'm so excited, I think I need one for around the house to keep my drink cool.

I used that fleece inside that you use on potholders, so it should insulate your hand well. I'll have to try it out tomorrow. :)

I'll post more when I make more! :)

My first Jeans purse

This is my first Jeans purse. I am starting to recycle old jeans and thought this pair would make a cool purse. I added a belt that I made out of the same material I lined it with. Plus I made a flower out of that same material and cut leaves out of a pair of green jeans that I had too.
This is what the lining looks like. I had to hand stitch it in cause my sewing machine couldn't handle the thickness of the jeans and lining. And I made a pocket on the inside too!!

I'm very excited to make more now! I'll post them as I make them.

Machine Embroidery Lesson number 1

So, we've been having a bit of difficulty with the bobbin thread showing up on the top of the embroidery pieces we've been doing. The one in particular, the Flyers logo.

On the Orange part of the Logo the white bottom thread would pull through the fabric. We went to thicker stabilizer, and that helped a bunch. And I tried moving the needle tension too. And I couldn't get the right tension/.

So, by happenstance I decided to be a bit lazy on one of the practice runs, and I left the Red Sulky thread in the machine. I figured it was only practice, and I'd adjust the color later. But after it embroidered, we noticed NO Bobbin thread!

Could it be that simple??

Turns out that yep, it was that simple. LOL Not only did we not get any bobbin thread showing through, but the quality of the embroidery was 110% better.

So, solution, no embroidery thread from Wal Mart anymore. Only Sulky or that Gutermann thread for us! I didn't think that thread would make that much of a difference, but it does.

Webkinz Quick Draw

I'm so excited! I actually won the Webkinz Quick Draw! I mean I usually don't even do those cause I'm always thinking to myself, "Who the heck will actually win that?" And then even when the numbers were coming up I kept thinking that this number will be off by one, or that one.

But I thought too, OMG, I'm going to be so close! LOL

I just had to take a screenshot cause I couldn't believe it myself! LOL

I won the beach table, and I have a beach room, so it will fit in very nicely!

Now I'm going to do the quick draw all the time!

Fall TV

I'm so excited that the Fall season has started! I'm a big TV junkie, I admit it. I love when the new series start.

So far, I've enjoyed Dancing with the Stars! OMG, don't you love Lacey and Lance Bass? They are such a breath of fresh air. I loved their first dance, even though Len didn't. I think you have to do something a little bit new in the dances.

Heroes was awesome! SO worth the wait. I won't ruin it for anyone who has DVR'd it. But OMG, it was the best! I was so bummed when we had the writer's strike. They ended last season so abruptly. I have to have my Hiro and Ando fix! Those two are my favorites in the show. And the preshow was great too!

Of course I loved SVU. I'm glad that Finn isn't going to go anywhere. He's one of my favorite characters. I'm still bummed that Adam Beach is gone.

And did you watch Knight Rider?? I loved the fact that now Kitt is a transformer. LOL And I gotta get one of those mega computers. I would DIE if I had 3 screens and could move stuff from one to another with a touch of the screen.

I still have to watch the rest of Grey's. But ER was so good! And sad!

Are you excited about the new season, and what was your favorites??

Enjoy the music!

I decided today to add music to my blog. I have gone to different blogs and noticed that some people have added music. So I thought, "What the heck!"

I have been listening to my cousin on the radio, and I've really liked some of the music they're playing. I'll add more when I figure out what other bands I like.

If you don't want the music, just hit the pause button and it should stop. And to change songs just click on one of those listed, and it will play.

Enjoy!

Crafter's Zone

I joined a new crafting group a few days ago called Crafter Zone. They found me through Twitter, so I went to check out their site. I really like it. The people have been really nice. And there are many talented people on the site. And you can sign up for different groups depending on your interests. I really like that.

Here is a project that Keiki Gifts, Crafts & Activities posted on her site:

Friendship Chips
Such a very clever idea for kids to trade with each other. I love the different chips she's made.
Here's the link to her site: http://keikigifts.brighterplanet.org/

Purple pearl bracelet

I spent a couple of hours today with a friend of mine that I met through the store. She wanted to learn how to bead, so I we had a simple beading class today. Just the two of us, it was really fun beading with someone and not by myself.

I made this bracelet from the purple/maroony colored pearls that she had, and I added some fire-polished beads and these really pretty pearl colored beads. It turned out pretty nice. I'm keeping this one! LOL

We're going to try to meet a few times a month to bead. It's nice cause she's just over the bridge from me.

Happy Monday!

Yesterday was a nice day. Started off watching the Flyers play a softball game. They didn't win, but they are playing much better then when they started this year. That's a plus!

Went to see my mom and ate some really great BBQ Chicken Bento from the San Mateo Buddhist Church. I look forward to that every year cause it's just so good!!

And I went to see my 2 Aunts in San Francisco. We had to time it right so that we wouldn't hit the 49er after-game traffic. It's always nice visiting with them.

Other than that, just resting up a bit. Not a very creative weekend for me, but I did a ton of stuff outside of the house, which is good. Found homes for my Shonen Jump magazines...yay! And will continue to find more treasures in the house. But will be more creative on Tuesday!!

Plug for Sadie...

Saturday Miss Sadie will be singing with her band in San Mateo at St. Matthew's church on El Camino. They're having a Country/Western fundraiser, and she's going to be performing there tomorrow night.

She's awesome! So if you're around the area, check her out. I think she's there at 7pm.

Art by Wendy

Are these not the cutest kittens you've ever seen in a painting?? OMG, I was doing my etsy surfing, and found this wonderful store with the most beautiful paintings...Artbywendy

Of course I love all of her paintings, she has the best mermaid, fairies, and dragons. And you know me, being the CCLDTS, I love the kitties most of all.

If you haven't seen her art yet, check her out. And check out all the other artists at the etsy site. They are making the most wonderful things! From time to time I'll post something here that I truly love!

Blogging on Martha Stewart's show.

Yesterday's Martha Stewart's show was all about blogging. Now you all know I love to blog! And it was really neat to see what everyone does with their blogs.

Here's a link to Martha's blog:

Thank you Tina for telling me about the show!

New Items I've sewn!

I made a few tissue holders and little pouches, but thought they looked kind of plain. So I decided to put felt flowers and hearts on them! :) Here are my first attempts at appliqueing.

My favorite is this one, cause the flowers look like plumerias. And I love plumerias! :)

I made some fun pointsettias, so we'll see how they will look on Christmas ones!

Gameboard table cover

Years ago Phil built this game board for his WW2 game, Axis and Allies. He cut everything out of wood, and I painted and decopaged the flags and numbers on for him. It's 8 foot by 5 foot. So, it's HUGE!

And while cleaning out the garage, I thought it needed a cover. So here's what it looks like now with the cover on it! It's the largest sewing project I've worked on. And I just love it! Isn't it beautiful?? LOL Not perfect, but I think it's beautiful! LOL
While I was sewing it, Oreo decided that he needed to hide in the material.
So, I call the material, Oreo Camo now! LOL I don't know why he decided he needed to be in it, but everytime I needed to sew on it, he was wrapping himself up inside of it. Good thing it was only for me, and not for a gift or anything!

Here's the tank top...

Here are the tank tops! LOL I think they're too cool. What a great way to incorporate stamping and sewing! :)

Yay it's Fall!

Don't you just love the fall weather? It makes me so happy when the weather starts to turn cooler. And even though we're in California, we do have some trees where the leaves will start to turn colors.

Hope you all are enjoying the nice fall weather too.

Cool Sweatshirts

We saw these when we were on our trip to Santana Row a few weeks ago. I think they're too cool! I love how they dyed the different strips and then stamped and painted on them. Then sewed them all up together! I'm seeing these more and more nowdays, they were at the flea market a couple of weeks ago. And I first saw them at the gift show a couple of months ago.

Maybe I'll get the courage to actually buy one and wear it! :)

Ok, just one more....

It looks like Oreo when he was a kitten. And for a second, I miss him being a kitten, then I remember all the running around and getting into everything. I don't miss that! LOL

Kung Fu mouse...

This just made me crack up, so I thought I'd share. LOL
Again, from Icanhascheezburger

What a neat surprise!

Today was all my freecyclers pick-up day. And I had the nicest surprise. One of the women left a bag of organic tomatoes with a thank you note. I've never had anyone leave a thank you note before. So that was a really nice surprise.

I love freecyclers! :)

More etsy

This is a Halloween bracelet I made today. I changed it from what it used to look like just to have something different. It's going to be a one of a kind cause I don't have any more skull beads. But I think it turned out cute. I have to make a pumpkin bracelet next cause I love those little pumpkins.
And I finally put up the Webkinz sleeping bags on etsy. Aren't they cute? LOL I think I might have posted them here before. I actually sold a few at the flea market the other day, and the kids really love them! Here's a picture of Allie with her Webkinz! :)

I'm also excited because 4 people have added me as their favorite shop! How cool is that?!?! And a couple other people have marked things as their favorites. I'm glad they like the stuff!

Hope you all are having a good weekend!

Fantastic Contraption

So, Philip sends me this link today:

http://fantasticcontraption.com/

All I can say is, "Dang it Philip! It's almost 5:30 in the morning, and I am at level 13. I don't want to be up at 5:30, but I want to keep playing that game." SHEEESH!!

LOL

It's really cool. You make contraptions to get a certain shape into the pink colored area. You use wheels that spin clockwise, counter clockwise, or ones that don't spin. Plus you connect them with rods or water. You wouldn't think it's addicting, but it is.

So, if you want to play a game that will use up a ton of your time, play this!

I'm going to sleep. LOL

Sadie's new band

Sadie is in a Pat Benatar tribute band. And here she is in her Pat Benatar get up with the rest of the band.

Pat is one of my favorite artists, so I hope that Sadie can do her justice. I mean I'm the person who can't listen to any of Journey's new songs because they're not the same without Steve Perry. And Van Halen wasn't the same with Sammy Hagar, even though I LOVE Sammy, it wasn't right having him in Van Halen. LOL

Yes, hard core fan here.

But she did pretty well singing Rock and Roll. So she's probably really good at Pat's songs too. I'll let you know. ;)

Love that internet!

I love the internet! My cousin is a DJ on a Morning Hawaiian radio show Island 98.5 And it's way cool cause of the time delay I am up and can listen to him on the radio through the internet! He's the one with the guitar in the above picture. LOL

And he also sings and has his own entertainment company. www.jrkjr.com

It's so funny to hear someone I know on the radio, and it's even cooler that I can listen to him everyday. It really makes me want to go to visit the family though. Maybe next year? :)

Earrings

I added some earrings to my etsy site. I love making earrings and I hope people will like them too. :) These are a couple of the pink earrings I was working on. I have got to do other colors too! LOL

Looziana Designs

Ok, I finally did it! I overcame my fear and put a couple of things up on Etsy. They are the pink and fall colored bracelets. I am hoping that they will sell. Cross your fingers everyone!

Here is the link to my shop. Ok, I should say OUR shop. The boys and I are going to sell things in this etsy shop. I'm hoping that Al will make some of his welded animals. :) They are too cool. LOL

And Phil and Philip always come up with neat off the wall things.

So we'll see how we do.

Bracelets

I made these bracelets to sell at the flea market. I love making these dangly bracelets, and I thought maybe they would make someone happy.

I love the amber color one, it just reminds me of fall.
My favorites to make are the multicolor ones. When I was in kindergarten, I would make flowers with petals that were all the colors of the rainbow. My mom thought something was wrong with my eyesight at first, because my dad is colorblind. But then realized that I just love color. LOL

And this last one is my idea of a princess bracelet. It's pink, of course. And just a simple bracelet. Not too many danglies. But I think if it doesn't sell tomorrow, I may just add more! ;)

Wish me luck!

Tissue cozy

I found a pattern to make these tissue cozies. These are for the pocket tissues that have the plastic wrap around it. They were so fun to make I made a bunch of them! I had some sample fabrics too, so I made some with those too. I'll have to carry tissues in my bag now just so I can use one of these! LOL

Instant Pineapple Upside-down cake...LOL

So, Phil decided we needed to jazz up our pound cake today, so he made Instant Pineapple Upside-down cake. What is IPUDC? Well, he cooks pineapple in brown sugar and butter, pretty much caramelizing it. Then he pours it over the pound cake with the whipped cream.

Now, I could have done without the whipped cream, well, he cheated and used Cool Whip, and it made it way too rich for me. He had no problems woofing it down. LOL

It really did taste like pineapple upside-down cake. LOL

Fremont Flyers Logo

Here's the second logo that we've digitized. It's for the FGSA tournament softball team, the Flyers. Phil helps our friend Rusty coach the 14U team. This logo was a bit tough, and I still have to work on the softball. It doesn't look all too great, but I'm working on it.

The old logo has a white softball, and it's always bugged me because the girls use a yellow softball. :) So, I hope they like it!

I can has cheeseburger

So, everyday I check out the icanhascheezburger website. On this website you look at the pictures posted, and I guess you write whatever you want on it, and people check it out. It's probably more involved than that, but that's the gist of it. LOL

Anyway, I saw this one on the site through twitter today, and cracked up! LOL How funny is that?? It totally looks like the Puma logo. Cats are so funny.

September already

Wow, it's September already. I love the end of August and the beginning of September, why? Because all of the school supplies are out in the store! I just love the smell of new notebooks and pencils...

Ok, say it now...GEEK!

And it was always great cause the kids would be going back to school, no more laying around the house bored cause they had nothing to do. And my mornings and afternoons were my quiet time again.

It was always fun watching them get so annoyed that they would have to go back to school. Nyah nyah nyah! Well, I always loved going to school, so I couldn't understand why they didn't want to go.

Yes, again...GEEK!
